Transition

Friendly adaptation process to Elementary School

In the school we have the transition grade that marks the step from preschool to primary, so it is important to us for the children to adapt to the new routine, mature socially and strengthen the reading and writing process passing a great deal of the day in English.

They will socialize with more teachers and students of different ages. Because of that every year the sixth graders are their hosts during the first week of classes; they accompany them socializing during recess and show them every place in the school in order to make them feel welcome in this new phase of their school life.

In addition to the emphasis on the English language and keeping our academic standards high we form our students in an all-encompassing way by offering sport, art and cultural activities.

Once they graduate from the Colegio Erik Erikson the children and youngsters have developed abilities, values, and principles of life that in conjunction with the high academic level allows them to excel at any part of daily life.

Our children develop life skills.

We left behind the outdated practices or poorly implemented in traditional systems and take the learning process at a level that requires dialogue and coexistence. Thus, children construct their own knowledge structures and are able to live and reflect each concept, as they mature emotionally and socially in an environment thoroughly established by their parents, teachers and principals.

We establish the conditions for them to carry out cognitive processes; we combine modern pedagogical and organizational techniques in order to achieve a disciplined, consistent and efficient implementation of our processes. This is to say that we are not solely theoretical, but that we put the concepts into practice and we do it using a methodology equally professional as interesting for the child.

It is important to us that the children develop abilities for life and see the importance of their initiative, assertiveness, creativity and emotional security. Our school is distinguished, because we promote social integration, teamwork and respect for ideas; we help them to be congruent critics and to use propositions, to be willing to learn and commit themselves to doing their best.

The children and youngsters live through an educational process that is based in the promotion of values, life in a community that learns and respects their members like individual and unique human beings.

Children are an active part of the learning process: they reflect, get involved and are always heard. By offering educational options, supported by attention, evaluation and personalized monitoring, they experience different versions of knowledge, endorsing it. By promoting their development as a person, they also stand out for their initiative and creativity, as well as emotional security.

Elementary students develop in a bilingual environment (Spanish and English), junior high school also incorporates French, in order to strengthen their preparation for High School..
